The Catalunya Europa Foundation brings key climate findings to the Catalan Parliament from a pioneering conference on the Iberian Mediterranean

After years of multidisciplinary research, the 1st Conference of Experts on Climate Change and Territory in the Iberian Mediterranean, organised by the University of Valencia, identified key areas of action and formulated recommendations to address the growing impacts of the climate crisis in this especially vulnerable region. The conference highlighted the need for coordinated strategies for mitigation, adaptation and anticipation in response to increasingly extreme weather events, such as the recent DANA storm in Valencia.

With the aim of transferring this expert knowledge to Catalonia and encouraging concrete government action, the Catalunya Europa Foundation has begun a round of meetings with parliamentary groups in the Catalan Parliament. On 9 April, the Foundation’s director, Dolors Camats, together with experts Oriol Nel·lo, Javier Martín Vide and Anna Badia, met with parliamentary representatives to present the main conclusions of the conference.

As a result, the experts will appear before the Catalan Parliament’s Committee on Ecological Transition on 29 April, where they will present the data and key policy recommendations first-hand.

The Foundation will continue working to disseminate these findings and share them across different levels of government, with the support of the Barcelona Metropolitan Area and other institutions committed to the ecological transition.
